Seeing God’s Glory
Dear Saints,
One of the activities enjoyed at last week’s FCCC Family Camp was star-gazing. Four powerful telescopes were set up on the Waialua beach grass near our campsite, and for more than an hour, we experienced the awesomeness of the heavens—close-ups of the surface of the moon and Saturn’s rings, as well as a guided tour of the starry constellations that grace the night sky.
But what did we really see? Look at the heavens, and tell me what you see. The moon and the stars? Yes, but look closer. The Milky Way galaxy? Yes, but look even deeper. What do you see?
“The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands.” (Psalm 19:1)
Three millennia ago, a man named David, looked up above his Middle-Eastern landscape and saw it. And just last weekend at Waialua, many of our church family saw it anew. It was the glory of God.
Look around you. Evidence of God is everywhere. In the sun, the moon, the stars, the mountains, and the seas. We see God’s immensity, ubiquity, splendor, and grace. But I think the most amazing thing of all is that, above all these works of nature, God created something as His crowning achievement—you! God created you and me as the highest of His creations.
Each one of you is amazing in God’s eyes! So whenever you look at the mountains, the beaches, the stars, and other people, stop and ask yourself what you see. In nature and especially in you, I see the glory of God.
Yours in Christ,
Pastor Dave
