Called to be Extraordinary
Dear Saints,
Praise God for your presence in our FCCC Ohana!
Last week as news spread of three hurricanes approaching the Hawaiian islands, there was a run on bottled water at many stores. Some who didn't take the threat as seriously (or didn't want to spend the money), thought of filling their bathtubs and other large containers with water before a hurricane should hit.
When disaster stares us in the face, we all know we need to act-and act fast! It's no longer business as usual. We know that extraordinary circumstances call for extraordinary measures.
Saints, I want you to know that we in the Church are facing extraordinary circumstances today. Since the 1970's, mainline denomination churches have lost an average of 10 percent of its members every five years! Once thriving, energetic congregations are now struggling to make ends meet. For many, the vision of reaching the world for Christ has decayed into a feeble attempt to protect what's left. But extraordinary circumstances call for extraordinary measures.
Will you join Pastor Sam, myself, and the rest of our church in doing whatever it takes to thrive again as God's church. Opportunities abound - from forming a new Ohana group that meets around an activity you enjoy, to volunteering your services in our upcoming Dream Sunday outreach worship. All you have to do is ask, "How can I help?"
On October 2 (Sunday) at 12 noon, we'll be holding our next Dream Sunday pre-worship service and meeting. Come join our Team in catching God's Dream to save the lost. Also, let's keep building relationships with unchurched friends and family so that we can "each one, reach one" - and bring an unsaved loved one to church—"by Christmas Day."
You are an incredibly valuable part of our Ohana. During this extraordinary hour, let's rise to become the extraordinary people God has created us to be. Yes, "all things are possible with God."
Until next time, God bless you!
Pastor Dave
