Be Revitalized
As you may be aware, our church is in the process of starting a new worship service to reach out to the young families and young adults, especially the unchurched who would otherwise not attend a regular, traditional worship service. Pastor Dave is taking the lead in the planning process. He encourages us to "each one reach one by Christmas Day." I am excited about the possibilities of this new worship service, and I would like to encourage every one of us to be actively supporting this important ministry of our church.
This ministry is of the people. As you may recall, at the Congregational Conference of 2003, one of the top priorities that emerged from our dialogue was to reach younger families and generations. Our members, most of whom are 50 and above, have a great heart to see beyond our own needs and want to reach a new generation for Christ.
This ministry is for the people. As we reach out to a newer generation, and bring the unchurched to salvation in Jesus Christ, we will get excited and become revitalized. It is well known in church growth studies that when a church stops visioning and begins to be nostalgic about the past, it will start to decline. We must encourage young people to see visions and our old people to dream dreams, as the Apostle Peter challenged the early believers to do. (Acts 2:17). Where there is no vision, the people perish. (Proverbs 29:18). Having a grand vision is essential for the well-being of our church.
This ministry is by the people. Some of our dedicated brothers and sisters in Christ have been meeting and praying for the fruition of this new ministry of our church. We need many more brothers and sisters in Christ to be actively involved in this ministry through earnest prayer, sacrificial giving and dedicated participation.
Remember, the Word of God has promised, "He who refreshes others will himself be refreshed." (Proverbs 11:25).
Please prayerfully consider becoming a part of the Dream Sunday core team.
Love in Jesus Christ,
Pastor Ling
