Our Goals for 2005
Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
The Christian journey is an incredible adventure involving remarkable grace, renewed purpose, transformed lives, and participation in God's plan to save the lost. For me, perhaps the most incredible thing is that God has chosen me to be an insider to this whole amazing story.
As The First Chinese Church of Christ celebrates its 126th year of existence, we are renewing our call to the incredible journey God has set before us. Like the living body that our church is, each generation of saints at FCCC has listened to and obeyed God's call in unique ways appropriate to their times, but always in agreement with God's Word and Spirit.
As we move forward in 2005 and the near future, our God-given goals are becoming clear. Among our priorities is to establish Ohana Groups, small groups of some 10 or so persons, who gather for care, instruction, accountability, and outreach. From June 17 to August 12, we will be having an Ohana Groups' Leaders Conference. And in the weeks ahead, you can look forward to joining an Ohana Group as well as forming a new one of your own.
Another of our church priorities is to begin a new worship especially geared toward reaching unchurched youth, young adults, and young families, without diminishing our commitment to our current membership. On the first Sunday of each of the last three months, the Dream Sunday meeting has gathered people interested in this alternative worship. Their next meeting is planned for Sunday, July 3rd.
Together, these two FCCC priorities balance the need to grow larger (through celebratory worship) with the need to grow smaller (through small group intimacy and accountability). As in generations past, we will need every believer to catch these priorities for Ohana Groups and for worship if we as a church are to fulfill this Godly calling.
It's time for "all hands on deck," as our FCCC family continues its incredible Christian journey, embarking now on a new leg of the journey that remains true to God's grace, renewal, transformation, and reaching the lost for Christ.
Together in His Service,
Pastor Dave
