Architecture, Symbolism and Ideograms
on the First Chinese Church of Christ Campus

The Bell Tower

The Bell Tower of the First Chinese Church was built as an afterthought in the construction of the Sanctuary of the First Chinese Church. It was built in the form of three Pagodas, representing the Trinity. To the Chinese, the pagoda symbolizes a place where evil never dwell, a holy place. Above these three pagodas is an empty cross symbolizing Christ's death and resurrection, serving as a beacon to those who sought salvation.
